The 4th years' thoughts on their Typology study of The Flood:
Creation / The Fall -God creates; all that He creates is good. -God creates the world; He makes man in His image, able to work. -The Garden of Eden. -God shut Adam and Eve out of the garden. -God creates mountains. -God creates wood so people can make altars to worship Him. - God says, "Be fertile and multiply." | The Flood -God regretted making man. -God tells Noah to build the ark; Noah works to build it as God says. -The Ark. -God shut Noah into the ark for 40 days. -Mt. Ararat. -Noah builds an altar and worships God by offering burnt sacrifice. - God says, "Be fertile and multiply." | Redemption / Today -We regret some of our choices. -We build God's house. Physical: Church. Spiritual: More people. -The Church. -God shuts us into the Church or makes us safe through Baptism. -Mount of Olives or Mt. Calvary. -Jesus died on the wooden cross. We use altars at Mass. -Moms give birth to us. | Parousia -All will be good. We won't regret anything. -Heaven is the fullness of the Kingdom of God. -Heaven. -God will shut us into Heaven for forever. -Heaven is God's Holy Mountain. -God opens the "wooden" gates of Heaven for us. -More people enter Heaven. |
Abraham / Isaac -Isaac to be sacrificed. -Isaac to be offered on wood. -Isaac to be sacrificed on an altar. -Isaac as the first-born son of Abraham and Sarah. -Isaac was innocent (didn't deserve death). -Abraham brought Isaac to be sacrificed. -Isaac walked up a mountain. -Isaac had holy parents. -Isaac didn't die - he had life. -Isaac was "bound" to the altar. -Isaac carried the wood. -Isaac was a promised son. -Sarah's disbelief. -Isaac's impossible birth. | Jesus / Redemption -Jesus willingly allowing himself to be sacrificed. -Jesus offered on the cross. -Jesus sacrificed on the "altar" of the cross. -Jesus was the first-born son of Mary. -Jesus was completely innocent (no sin). -God allowed Jesus to be sacrificed for us all. -Jesus walked up Mt. Calvary. -Jesus had the holiest parents. -Jesus DID die - he had risen life. -Jesus was nailed/bound to the cross. -Jesus carried the cross. -Jesus was promised from the beginning. -Mary questioned how, but believed it could happen. -Jesus' impossible birth. |
