Our Level II, 1st-3rd grade children, began their Atrium year by pondering Psalm 34:8, "Taste and see that the Lord is good." When invited to think of an Atrium material that has helped them to know God's goodness, the children gathered the following: the Pearl of Great Price, the Monstrance, the Easter Candle and Baptism candle, a rosary and crucifix, the figure of a priest, the Good Shepherd, the Ciborium from the Tabernacle, La Fettuccia (which is the reminder of all God has done and given in Creation), the Mustard Seeds, the Temple from the City of Jerusalem, the Holy Bible, the Parables of the Ten Bridesmaids and the Good Samaritan, the prayer cards, and the wine used in the Eucharist. |
One of the elementary children experiencing the Atrium for the first time chose to copy part of the Scripture we had pondered and filled her page with those items which spoke of God's goodness. She included a rosary, St. Clare, the wine of the Eucharist, Jesus holding the bread and wine he offers as His Body and Blood, the baby Jesus in the manger, a Crucifix alongside a Monstrance, and the Holy Bible. |
