If we were to articulate one "goal" or "aim" of the Atrium, it would be "To lead to prayer." The way the Atrium is set up, the materials that are available, the way Scripture is proclaimed, the moments of the liturgy which are lifted up, and the freedom the children have to work with or extend their work with the materials is all aimed at deepening their relationship with their Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. |
Before entering the Atrium we recall the stillness and quiet of this space, a quiet we help to create so that we (and others) can listen for the voice of the Good Shepherd. After each presentation there is a moment (or more!) for silence, song, or vocal response to the truth we have heard. As the children work with the materials they are encouraged to both listen and respond to the beauty of God's gifts. We end our time in the Atrium together at the Prayer Table to give thanks for this time away with the Good Shepherd. |
