The L2 children (E1) also began by taking time to remember how we live in this space so that we can continue to listen and speak with God. At the elementary age, reading and writing are foundational to all of the work that we do and the children were (mostly!) excited to put those skills into practice. It was a great gift to see what work was returned to and sought after by the children during their first week back in the Atrium!
Another Atrium year has begun! Last year I was unable to be with the youngest children at WOS so we are all enjoying introductions and the reestablishing of routine this week. For the L1 (Children's House) students, we began by introducing the Prayer Table as the heart of our Atrium space and then we took time to reorient ourselves to our space. The returning children next spent time enjoying previously introduced work while the new children began with preliminary materials. This week was a time of Phase-in with three smaller groups for an hour each. Next week these groups will become two larger ones which will enjoy time in the Atrium each week for an hour and a half.
