Next Sunday we will hear from Mark 1:7-11 as we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord, the final day of our Christmas festivities. Whose voice speaks from heaven in this passage? Why does he say this about Jesus? What if he was saying it about you? What does it mean to be God’s beloved son or daughter?
Level II and III Baptism In the Atrium we have often pondered the many gifts given through Baptism. While the Word, the Water, and the Light are the three main reminders of the beautiful gift of the Risen Light and Life of Jesus, there are even more: the Baptismal candle, the white garment, the Oil of Catechumens and Sacred Chrism. In the Rite of Baptism the priest prays through the gestures of Epiclesis, the pouring of the water, the cross marking the child as a son or daughter of God, and a large cross blessing the parents of the child. Make a booklet of images and titles for these gifts. If you are in 3rd-6th grade, write a definition for each of these articles and gestures of Baptism. God is so good. |
