Level I (Children's House): The Mustard Seed "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? It is like a mustard seed." (Mark 4:30-31a) What do you remember about the mustard seed? How big is it? What happens when it is planted in the ground? Who tells it to grow? If you were to draw things that grow, I wonder how many you could draw. I wonder if that tells us anything about God's Kingdom. | Level II/III (Elementary): The Gestures of Epiclesis and Offering Do you remember the gestures of the Epiclesis and the Offering? They are prayers that the priest prays with his body at Mass. You can see pictures of them above the gestures altar shown above. What is the priest asking of God when he prays the prayer of Epiclesis? What is he saying when he offers the gifts held by the chalice and the paten back to God the Father? Perhaps you would like to write in your own words what you are praying during these most sacred moments of the Mass. |
Jesus told parables and performed miracles to help give us "a taste" of the Kingdom of God. Today we continue to ponder and experience the Kingdom through His Word in the Bible and through His actions in the Sacraments. Comments are closed.
