Level I (Children's House): The Prophecy of the Light "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light." (Isaiah 9:1a) We are still celebrating the Risen Light in this season of Easter. How could we thank God for the gift of His Light? Is there a song we could sing? | Level II (1st-2nd): The Prophecy of the Peaceable Kingdom "The earth shall be filled with knowledge of the LORD, as water covers the sea." (Isaiah 11:9b) Look up and read Isaiah 11:6-9 in the Bible. What moment does this Scripture help you to picture? Choose part of this passage to write and illustrate. Level III (3rd-6th): Look up and read the Gospel for this Sunday, John 4:1-12. How does the Prophecy of the Peaceable Kingdom in Isaiah 11:6-9 fit with what Jesus is saying? How could you express what the "dwelling places" in the "Father's house" will be like? |
The Old Testament prophecies provide many clear and beautiful images which help us to think about Jesus and the moment we call Redemption as well as Parousia, the moment that is yet to come. The image of Light, in particular, assists us all in picturing Jesus, who says, "I am the Light of the world" (John 8:12). Comments are closed.
