This week we celebrate Thanksgiving and prepare to enter into the new season of Advent. In the Gospel for Thanksgiving, we hear about ten people being healed and one returning to thank Jesus. Read Luke 17:15-16. Think about this past year. There have been some hard moments and also many beautiful gifts. What gifts are you most thankful for? Make a list of twelve gifts, one for each month of this past year, which you could place at Jesus' feet with much thanks.
Level II (1st-2nd) The Found Sheep and the Found Coin Read Luke 15:1-10. Did you notice anything that is the same in these two parables? How do you think the shepherd and the woman felt when what was lost had been found? What do you think it might have been like for the sheep or the coin? Draw what that moment of rejoicing might have looked like. | Level III (3rd-6th) Eucharist as Thanksgiving The word "eucharisteo" is Greek and means "to give thanks." Find the account of the Last Supper in the Gospel of Matthew. When does Jesus give thanks? Why was He thanking God? What are we giving thanks for at Mass? Write the word "Eucharist" and illustrate it to show how we thank and praise God at Mass. |
