“The kingdom of God is at hand.” There are many parables in the Bible which help us to ponder the kingdom of God. In next Sunday’s Gospel Jesus invites people to help Him to tell others about the Kingdom. Read this Scripture passage and make a list of what you know about God’s Kingdom. What is it like? What will it be like? Who will help Jesus to spread the Good News about His Kingdom?
Level II (1st-2nd) The Mustard Seed We have pondered the parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13:31-32) many times...but there is always more to hear in a parable! Read this passage again and take some time to listen for what God is saying to you. Then, read one of the following Maxims, thinking about how this parable and this Maxim might go together. Do the same with the second Maxim. Write out each Maxim and draw what you are hearing in this parable. "Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit." "Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." | Level III (3rd-6th) The Kingdom Parables In the Atrium there are five parables about God's Kingdom which we return to often. This week, look up all five parables and read them. Which ones seem to be telling something similar? Choose two which seem alike and write them out. Next, write how these two Scriptures are the same and how they are different. What is God sharing with you through these parables? The Mustard Seed (Matthew 13:31-32) The Leaven (Matthew 13:33) The Hidden Treasure (Matthew 13:44) The Pearl (Matthew 13:45-46) The Growing Seed (Mark 4:26-29) |
