The First Reading for next Sunday brings us to a time long before Jesus, when the People of God were learning to listen for the voice of the Lord. Read this passage from 1 Samuel which tells of the first time Samuel, a young boy, heard God call him. How does Eli help Samuel to listen for God’s voice? Is there anyone who helps you to listen for His voice? In what ways do you hear Him? Draw or write about a time you have heard God’s voice or known that He was near.
The Synthesis of the Mass
This week’s review is for 2nd graders who are preparing to receive their 1st Eucharist this year. In the Atrium there is a work which allows us to lay out all of the prayers of the Mass in the beautiful order in which it is prayed. See if you can lay out the cards and images by using the Synthesis of the Mass Chart. Then, I invite you to begin to make your own Missal by choosing one or two of these prayers, each week moving forward, to copy and illustrate. When you have finished writing and illustrating all nine, these pages can be put together into a beautiful book containing the most important prayers of the Mass.
